Mary Lou Vaal
When asked who inspired her to sew, she explained how she learned organically by watching her mother, who encouraged her children to learn the craft. Mary Lou was able to stay home to raise her 6 children which allowed her the time to sew clothes for her kids and their dolls, including Barbie.
Mary Lou grew up on a beef and grain farm and then went on to have a dairy farm with her husband. She explains that her lifestyle includes making do with what you have and repairing things (including clothing) as things needed tending to rather than replacing everything.
